It's the evening before the birthday. The parcel you ordered is somewhere between a warehouse and the front door, or you never ordered one because the week got away from you. You still want to give something that says you were thinking of this particular child, not something you grabbed on the way.

Here is what I do now: make a storybook with the child in it, the way a few thousand families have this year, and send it as a gift. Ten minutes, free to send, and it lands with their name on the cover.

What You Are Actually Sending

A gift from Lullaby is a link. When the child's parent opens it, they see a card first: the book's cover on a wrapping colour you picked, the child's name, your name, and your message. One button, Open your Storybook, and they are reading. No account, no app, nothing to install, nothing to pay on their side.

The story itself is written from your idea and illustrated with the child as the hero. Upload a photo and the illustrations look like them. Describe them instead and they still get a hero who matches.

The Ten Minutes

  1. Write two sentences. Who the story is about and what happens. "Noa and her grandma plant a magic tree that grows into a treehouse" is plenty. Give the child's name and age.
  2. Add a photo, or skip it. A photo makes the hero look like them. Without one, describe hair, eyes and age, and Lullaby draws a child to match.
  3. Create the preview. The cover and the first illustrated pages take a couple of minutes. Read page 1 and the highlight page. If the child looks right, the rest will too.
  4. Tap the gift icon. Write their name, your name and a message of up to 140 characters. Pick a wrapping colour. The preview above the form is their first screen.
  5. Send the link. WhatsApp, or copy it into a text or an email.

If you want every page illustrated before they open it, complete the story first. If you'd rather send now, send now: the gift fills in by itself the moment you complete it, on the same link.

Why It Lands Better Than a Voucher

A voucher says "I didn't know what to get you." A story with the child's name and face says the opposite. You chose the adventure. You wrote the message. The grandparent on the other end reads it aloud over video that same evening, and the child hears their own name on every page.

It also solves the distance problem that print cannot. A book shipped across a border arrives in a week if you are lucky. A link arrives now, and a printed copy can follow for the shelf.

What the Child's Parent Sees If You Haven't Completed It

Honest answer, because it matters for a gift: the illustrated pages are free to read, and the remaining pages show as "To be continued". There is no price on their screen. If they would love the ending, there is one button that sends you a note. You decide whether to complete the story. We never ask the recipient to pay for a gift.

Who This Works For

  • Grandparents far away. Make a story about the grandchild and send it to their parent. See more ideas in unique gifts for grandkids.
  • The friend's child's birthday party. The parent already has a photo of the birthday kid on their phone. Ask for it, or describe the child.
  • Aunts, uncles, godparents. The people who want to be present and live in another city.
  • Parents, on the night before. Yes, you can gift your own child. The card is the part they will remember.

Before You Send

  • Read the illustrated pages once. If the hero doesn't look right, fix the character first; it changes every page.
  • Keep the message short. Three lines on a phone is the whole card.
  • Open your own gift link once. You see it exactly as they will.

Ready? Start your story and look for the gift icon when it's done.
