What a Gift Is
A gift is your story wrapped for one person: a card with their name, your name and a short message, on a wrapping colour you pick, with the book's cover on it. They get a link. Tapping Open your Storybook takes them straight into the story. No account, no app, no payment on their side.
Gifting is free, for every story.
Sending a Gift
- Open your finished story and tap the gift icon in the toolbar, next to Edit and Export.
- Fill in To (their first name), From (your name as they know you) and, if you like, a message of up to 140 characters.
- Pick a wrapping colour. The preview above the form is exactly their first screen.
- Tap Create the gift link, then send it by WhatsApp or Copy link and paste it anywhere.
Want to see it the way they will? Open your own gift link. You read it as the recipient does, with a small "back to your story" link under the toolbar.
What the Recipient Sees
If your story is completed (unlocked), they read every page.
If it is still a Preview, they read the illustrated pages, and the rest shows as "To be continued" cards. They are never shown a price. Instead, they can tap Let [your name] know you'd love the rest, which sends you one note by email. Only once, and only if they tap it.
Completing the Story Later
You can gift first and complete later. When you complete the story, every page appears in the gift right away. Same link, nothing for them to do.
You also get an email the first time the gift is opened, so you know it arrived.
Changing the Gift
Tap the gift icon again. Your card comes back with the names and message you saved. Change anything and tap Create the gift link again: the link stays the same, the card updates.
One card per story. If you want to gift the same story to two people with different messages, create a copy of the story first.
Gift Link vs Story Link
Both links open the same story. Only the gift link shows your card first. The plain story link (from Copy Link in the three-dots menu) is for sharing with family who just want to read.
