Once your story is ready, you can order a printed book through Lullaby or prepare it for Amazon KDP. The difference is the ordering and publishing process, rather than a proven difference in print quality.
Printing without an Amazon listing
Lullaby's printed book checkout does not require an Amazon listing. You unlock the digital story, then choose a printed book and shipping.
KDP also allows printing before publication: proof copies have a “Not for Resale” watermark. Author copies are unwatermarked copies of a live book, sold to the author at printing cost. These are distinct options, so it is incorrect to say that every KDP copy requires public publication. KDP proof and author copies
Formats and page counts
KDP offers both paperback and hardcover. Its hardcover range starts at 75 pages; premium-color paperback options include a 24-page minimum, depending on trim size. Compare the actual costs
Lullaby's Digital Book costs $14.99. After unlocking, printing costs an additional $29.99 for softcover, $39.99 for hardcover, or $59.99 for premium layflat. Shipping is extra. The digital purchase is part of the total cost for a new story. Lullaby pricing

Hebrew books and Lullaby's export
KDP supports Hebrew paperbacks. Amazon requires correctly arranged PDF files and reading direction; Hebrew hardcover is supported in left-to-right format only. KDP Hebrew publishing guide
Lullaby prints Hebrew stories directly. Its KDP export currently excludes Hebrew stories, so Amazon's language support should not be confused with the export available in Lullaby.
For other supported stories, Lullaby's Export menu offers an Amazon KDP package after unlocking, containing an interior PDF and wraparound cover PDF. You still need to set up the book in your own KDP account, check the preview, and complete Amazon's publishing requirements. Lullaby KDP export guide

When direct printing fits
You want a family keepsake. A birthday adventure or a new-sibling story can be ordered through Lullaby without setting up a book for sale. Choose the printed format and shipping option after unlocking.
You want one of Lullaby's short-book formats. Softcover, hardcover, and layflat are available through its own print checkout. KDP also offers hardcover, but its minimum page count means a short picture book may not qualify.
You prefer to use the existing checkout. Lullaby's order flow avoids preparing a separate KDP account and retail listing. Review every page before ordering; this is a difference in process, not evidence of better print quality.
You want to print your Hebrew Lullaby story. Lullaby offers direct printing for Hebrew. Amazon supports Hebrew under its documented format rules, but Lullaby's KDP export currently excludes Hebrew.
When Amazon KDP fits
You want a retail listing that relatives can use. If you choose to publish, relatives can order from the available Amazon marketplace, subject to its delivery coverage. A public listing makes the book available beyond your family, so decide deliberately whether to publish a child's name or likeness.
You want author copies of a live book. Compare the printing cost for your actual page count, size, ink, quantity, and marketplace. Shipping and tax add to the order. If the book is not published, watermarked proofs are the relevant option instead.
You want to publish for sale. Preparing a book for sale also involves the description, cover, pricing, rights, and Amazon's current content requirements. Use our KDP publishing guide as a starting point and confirm the requirements in Amazon's documentation. If the manuscript is already yours, you can illustrate your own children's book in Lullaby and keep your exact words on every page.
You want to check a print before publication. A KDP proof lets you inspect layout, trimming, and color reproduction before making the book live. Its watermark makes it different from an unwatermarked gift copy. Proof and author copies.

For a supported story, you can order a Lullaby hardcover or layflat for your family and prepare the KDP export for a separate publishing project. These are separate purchases and processes.
- Review the unlocked story and order the Lullaby format you want.
- Download the KDP interior and cover package from Export if it is available for the story.
- Upload to your own KDP account, check the preview and format requirements, and order a proof if needed.
- Publish only if you want a public listing, then use author copies or retail ordering as appropriate.
