Two Ways to Add a Page
Besides duplicating an existing page, you can add a brand-new page using the Add Page wizard. Upload a photo of a real place — a bedroom, a park, a backyard — and Lullaby turns it into a new page in your book, with your characters in it.
The wizard has two modes:
- Place & characters — your photo becomes a reusable "setting" for your story. Lullaby re-imagines the scene in your book's art style with the characters you choose. Great for "let's set a page at Grandma's house."
- Use this exact photo — your photo is fully re-illustrated in your book's art style, keeping the same people, poses, and composition. Great for a specific moment you want preserved, like a real family photo — rendered as an illustration, not a filtered photo.
Not sure which to pick? Start with Place & characters — it gives the best results and stays fully editable afterward. Use Use this exact photo only when the exact photo composition matters more than easy future edits.
How to Add a Page
- Open your story — Navigate to the story from "My Storybooks."
- Switch to List View — Tap the List View button in the toolbar.
- Enter Edit Mode — Tap the Edit button in the toolbar.
- Open the menu — Tap the menu button (three dots) on the page you want the new page to appear after.
- Select "Add page after" — Choose Add page after from the menu. The Add Page wizard opens.
- Choose a mode — Pick Place & characters or Use this exact photo at the top of the wizard.
- Upload or pick a photo — Follow the steps for your chosen mode below.
- Select characters — In Place & characters mode, tap the characters who should appear on this page using characters. You can select none for a scenery-only page. (In Use this exact photo mode there's no character picker — we keep whoever is already in your photo.)
- Describe what happens — Add a short line like "Maya and Ben build a sandcastle." This is required: it's the main hint we use to write the page's text and match the illustration.
- Generate the page — Tap "Generate Page." This takes 30–90 seconds.
The new page appears right after the page you chose, and the rest of your story renumbers automatically.
Adding a page uses one of your story's regenerations, the same allowance used to regenerate illustrations. If you've used them all, you'll be asked to add more before you can add a page.
Only the characters you select appear on the page — we won't add anyone else, even if the previous or next page mentions them. Select every character who should be in the scene so their look stays consistent with the rest of the book.
Mode 1: Place & Characters
- Choose New from photo and upload your photo, or pick Existing setting to reuse a place you've already added (existing settings are listed by name).
- If uploading, give the place a short name (e.g., "Grandma's Garden"). This becomes a reusable setting you can pick again for future pages.
- Select the characters who appear in the scene.
- Describe what's happening on the page.
Lullaby analyzes your photo to understand the space, then illustrates your characters there in your book's art style — the same way it works when you upload a setting photo during story creation.
This page behaves exactly like any other page in your book afterward: you can edit its text, regenerate its illustration, reorder it, or delete it — with no restrictions.
Mode 2: Use This Exact Photo
- Choose Use this exact photo and upload your photo.
- Read the warning that appears — it explains the trade-off below.
- Describe what's happening on the page. There's no character picker in this mode — we keep whoever is already in your photo, restyled to match the book.
Lullaby outpaints your photo to fit your book's page shape and restyles it to match your art style, while keeping everyone and everything in the photo exactly where it is.
Because this page is built directly from your photo rather than a reusable scene description, future edits to its illustration are limited to guided changes ("Modify Illustration") — for example, "make it sunset instead of daytime." A full illustration regeneration isn't available for this page, since redrawing from scratch would replace your photo with a new invented scene. Editing the page's text is unaffected.
Page Limits
- Maximum pages: Stories can have up to 20 pages total (including front and back covers).
- Minimum pages: Stories must have at least 4 content pages (plus covers).
If you're at the maximum, you'll see an error message. Delete a page first if you need to add more.
